Measures against bird flu

Bird Flu can said to be a deadly and contagious disease that has been currently spreading throughout the world.
It is an infection caused by Avian(bird) Influenza(flu) viruses which not only affects birds, but also other animals like ducks and chickens, and we, humans may also get affected.
Not only the government has been taking actions to prevent Bird Flu from spreading, but also us..Actually, we should be hygenic at all times so as to prevent this from happening. And these includes hand washing, and safe coughing and sneezing.
The measures taken by the govenment would be to have the normal human flu vaccine. By taking injections before going abroad is fundamental as foreign countries may not be as hygienic as what we think and there may be stray animals.
Another prevention can be to take 2 drugs like Tamiflu and Relenza although they are still in observations .If the problem became wide- spread, these may not help.
During this kind of period, it will be best to stay away from birds and chickens, but if there are bird keepers, they can try not to get too close to them. Of course , there is a need to clear away any bird faeces so as to keep germ-free.
Falling ill often may increase the risk of getting the virus as your immune system is not functioning well or not very resistant to illnesses. There is therefore a need to have a well-balanced diet , eat healthily , sleep well and stay fit. Drink as much water as possible

Others may have the intention of buying surgical masks from other countries by ordering or what is known as Nanomasks. It is the first face masks that is effective in isolating and destroying bacteria and viruses. In Singapore, it is not obvious that the public wear masks to prevent such infectious disease as in our country, the problem is not widely-spread. It will not make sense if the majority wear them in public. It is commonly sold in Bird Flu affected countries due to the drastic condition there.

Also, many schools are taking actions by monitoring the students temperature. It is always more secure if our temperature is taken and therefore keeps Singapore free from Bird Flu.

Although Singapore is free of bird flu. However, we should always be vigilant and take precaution in whatever we do. Do not touch the dead birds with bare hands and wash your hands thoroughly with soap if you come into contact with them.

In all, i felt that the government has taken enough measures to prevent the spread of Bird Flu in Singapore.
