Election 2006
Singapore's General Election 2006 had been the hottest issue that the media and public had been concerned about these days. What is the most significant update then?
Well, i would say is Singapore Democratic Party leader, Chee Soon Juan is being sued by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew for the statements made in his party's newspaper earlier this month. He was sued for defamation against both ministers. The impending lawsuit might affect the SDP's votes in Sembawang GRC as well as the Bukit Panjang and Nee Soon Central wards. Also, some SDP members were tired of such a situation, one of whom is Arthero Lim Tung Hee. Therefore, he left the SDP as he disliked the way Chee Soon Juan and the party operates.

Recently, the People's daily online newspaper reported that members of the PAP, including party chairman Lim Boon Heng, Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong, as well as some ministers, stressed that integrity is the foundation of the party. They were prepared to challenge any accusations of corruption which might ruin the party's reputation.

Singaporeans will go to the polls on 6th May . Their votes are important in that it reflects whether Prime Minister Lee Hsien Long is a strongly endorsed national leader. It also shows whether the oppostion party is prepared to achieve what Singaporeans crave in the country's politics.
So, come May 6 it will be a straight face-off between the ruling party and the Opposition in 47 constituencies and a total of 1,222,884 voters will get to vote.
As commented on Friday, 28April , the Channel Newsasia reported that Deputy Prime Minister Wong Kan Seng said that there was no Government yet.
The election is not entirely about life upgrading or the different voices in the Parliament, but for Singapore's future. Therefore if we make the wrong decision in choosing the right party, the society may be divided .

The Worker's party, who felt that they were not on the winning side, continues to take part in the election as they wanted Singaporeans to have a choice. At the same time , to improve on themselves-in terms of capability in the upcoming elections.

Singapore's four political parties will each be given a time limit to voice out their opinions. This is to be held on Saturday and next Thursday for the General Election. The broadcasts will be shown on television.

In conclusion, elections are a major segment to us as far as Singaporeans are concerned.
